I went to Laurie Binder for acupuncture for my migraines and headaches as a “desperate skeptic”.

After a few weeks of treatments, the frequency and severity of headaches significantly declined. Soon after that my quality-of-life was back to normal.

I now go sometimes a week or two without a headache! That’s a real treat!

I was not an “alternative medicine” kind of person, so I’ve been VERY pleasantly surprised at the effectiveness of Laurie’s acupuncture treatments.

The pregnancy went very smoothly. I was put on bed rest of 35 weeks for placental insufficiency and the delivery was induced at 38 weeks, but all went well.

Baby Shayna was born on July 22nd at 5 lbs, 14 oz and you can see how cute she is!

I also wanted to get pregnant but did not wish to do so until I was completely well and serene. All of Laurie’s treatments helped me achieve this harmony. She works beyond to help her patients and would even squeeze me in her schedule when I was desperate to get well. Whenever I leave Laurie’s office, I feel so refreshed that I know I will go see her with any other ailments in the future.

Once I got pregnant, Laurie helped me with acupuncture treatments that facilitates childbirth. Since I wanted a natural birth I was hoping the treatments would help me go into labor before the doctors would induce me. I was also worried because I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, so Laurie helped relieve a lot of anxiety. In fact, the day before I was supposed to get induced, I went into labor. I know acupuncture helped, as well as Laurie’s invaluable advice with breathing techniques. Laurie also showed my husband some points he could press to help start labor, and relieve pain during labor. I called them “the eject buttons” and I am sure all of this contributed to smooth my labor. As a result of Laurie’s excellent care, my delivery lasted less than 5 hours and I was able to forego the epidural or any other kind of medical assistance to give birth to my perfectly healthy baby girl, Mathilde.

Without Laurie’s magic and hard work, I do not think things would’ve turned out so perfect. By restoring the balance in my wellbeing, I was able to prepare my body for childbearing, exercise during pregnancy and stay healthy and strong in preparation for labor. Now I have a beautiful baby girl, Mathilde who is the sunlight of my day. I would recommend everyone in the world to see Laurie but I’d rather keep her to myself!

I started seeing Laurie in Dec. 2011 to help with my fertility. After only two treatments of acupuncture and in-depth counseling in changing my diet, it worked! During the holidays, my husband and I were absolutely overjoyed to find out that we were pregnant after months and months of careful, well-timed attempts at becoming pregnant (that’s an eternity for any woman trying to conceive, especially one of Advanced Maternal Age). My husband and I went through testing with our doctors and received all normal results, but were given the reason of “unexplained fertility”. We didn’t want to be let down the next month again, so we started exploring all of our options, but naturally haven’t grasped the possibility that we might not be able to conceive on our own again (we were blessed with a beautiful daughter). Before changing paths we decided to do more research, this time in eastern medicine. That’s when I found Laurie! Many of her patients have experienced profound success in a variety of personal circumstances. I didn’t need to read another testimonial to pick up the phone and make a call for my first appointment. I was so excited! After thorough review and discussion of my medical history and examination, we discussed my body’s deficiencies. Laurie explained my treatment plan and said that these deficiencies were like blockages to the premium reproductive health I needed to be in to achieve pregnancy. I was glad to learn this! It mentally and emotionally gave me a reason for our previous failures, whereas my doctors told us everything was fine. And joyfully in the end, we’re pregnant and due this September! Laurie is also there for me as I continue treatment during my 1st trimester to help out with early symptoms of pregnancy and baby nourishment.

My husband and I definitely say we couldn’t have done it without Laurie. I really appreciate that she is more than an excellent acupuncturist. She has a wealth of background and experience on the western side of fertility and pregnancy, too. Finally, I wanted to add that I myself am a physician, so being trained in Western medicine, it is hard not to be skeptical of some of the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. But I know now from personal experience that the principles have true merit. I would not be where I am today without them and without Laurie.
